About the Cañon City Chamber Orchestra

Uniting Musicians, Engaging Communities

In the heart of Colorado thrives the Cañon City Chamber Orchestra, a symbol of musical harmony and community spirit. Led by the esteemed Gerald Willis, we are not just an orchestra but a vibrant community where musicians and music enthusiasts come together to celebrate the power and beauty of music. Our unique blend of challenging and enjoyable musical opportunities enriches not only our members but also the wider community of Cañon City.

Our Mission
Founded on the belief that music transcends boundaries, the Cañon City Chamber Orchestra aims to brighten minds and foster a strong sense of community. Our mission extends beyond performances; we strive to keep the tradition of live music thriving, making classical and contemporary music accessible to all.

Our Vision
We envision the Cañon City Chamber Orchestra as a model of opportunity for individuals in our community to continue their musical journey. Whether reigniting a passion for an instrument played in youth or refining skills to reach new heights of musical excellence, our orchestra serves as a catalyst for personal and communal growth.

A Symphony Of Experience

With over forty years of musical direction and education, Gerald Willis, our conductor, infuses each performance and rehearsal with deep expertise and passion. His journey, marked by leadership in various orchestras and educational settings, shapes our ensemble's approach to music, emphasizing quality, inclusivity, and community engagement.

Our connection with the Royal Gorge Philharmonic enriches our foundation, allowing us to offer a broader musical perspective to our audiences and members. This partnership reflects our commitment to elevating the musical landscape of Southern Colorado, making the joy of orchestral music a shared experience for everyone.

Education and community involvement stand at the core of our philosophy. In a district where string programs are notably absent, we aim to fill that gap, advocating for the introduction of these essential educational opportunities. Our outreach initiatives seek to inspire the next generation of musicians, fostering a lasting appreciation for the arts.
